"[Miles Davis, Sly Stone, and Jimi Hendrix], it all goes into the music Phaze Theory makes." Kevin Le Gendre - BBC Jazz on 3, The Manchester Jazz Festival
Phaze Theory was founded in London in 2014 by electric tuba player and composer, Christopher Barrett. The ensemble has performed at venues worldwide including the Spice of Life, The Finsbury, Bird's Nest, The London Jazz Festival and the Silver Bullet(in London); Band on the Wall for BBC Radio 3 as part of the Manchester Jazz Festival and toured the West Coast of the United States in 2016.
Our members have toured almost every country in the world playing with ensembles as diverse as the London Philharmonic, Sons of Kemet and David Gray as well as performing at Secret Garden Party's Main Stage, The Royal Albert Hall, Pizza Express London, A Love Supreme Jazz Festival, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and many other distinguished festivals and venues.
We have been turning heads with our lineup of vocals, guitar, drums and electric tuba; with deep, improvisatory grooves over the poetry of Blake and Yeats Phaze Theory truly is defining the music of the future through the traditions of the past.
